A Week to Go W/Spots Up for Grabs

Last updated: 8 a.m., Tuesday

It's down to the nitty-gritty in the races for spots in the Southern Nevada 5-A regional, beginning Monday, May 8 with the championship game Friday, May 12. The two teams playing in the championship game will advance to the state tournament at Nevada Reno, May 18-20.

Here's a look at the teams competing for the top four spots in the Desert and Mountain leagues with the final week's schedule: (UPDATED)

   (home to Centennial Thursday)

Centennial (8-3):
   (at Green Valley Thursday)

Coronado (7-4):
   (home to Palo Verde Thursday)

Basic (7-4):
  (at Las Vegas Thursday)

NOTES: As you can see, Green Valley just needs to win Thursday and claim the No. 1 seed . . . No. 2 is up for grabs . . . A lot of IFs still intact.

*

Mountain League

Bishop Gorman (10-1):
(at Spring Valley Wednesday; The Gaels have wrapped up the No. 1 seed)
NOTE: Gorman also has two non-league games -- at Centennial Tuesday and home vs. Snow Canyon, UT Thursday night.

Desert Oasis (8-3):

Faith Lutheran (7-4):
   (home to Arbor View Thursday)

Arbor View (5-5):
(home to Desert Oasis Wednesday; at Faith Lutheran Thursday)

NOTES: Desert Oasis will be the No. 2 team, based on its win over Bishop Gorman . . . Liberty was eliminated from post-season play with its loss to Faith Lutheran, giving Arbor View the No. 4 spot.
